albino cory acts dead...

Kimbo, cories actually aren't algae eaters. I think they like the wafers, but they would benefit from a staple food with more protein. I feel the hikari sinking wafer with a cory on the front. I think it's just called bottom feeder wafers?

OK, I'll look into that. I rescued these guys from a friend who was going to flush them >:O and I had some algae wafers from a pleco I used to have, so I ust thought that would be enough. I was planning to get some more cories to give them some more friends to swim with so I'll pick up some better food for them then.

My cories do some weird things... Sometimes they'll lie on their sides and I'll think they're dead but once I come close to the tank they're right back up again. I've never had one just float to the top of the tank like that, that does sound strange. Could be water quality or not enough food? What are you feeding them?

I have 4 cories in my tank, one being albino...and the albino does exactly that....

cories ingest air into their intestines so they can absorb the oxygen into their bloodstream. That's what theyre doing when you see them rush up to the surface and then dive back down again. I would wager that's what's causing him to float. As for the "acting dead" it's not at all uncommon for many bottom-dwellers (Clown Loaches are most notorious) to lie down and "sleep" from time to time. Keep an eye on him to make sure it doesn't get worse, but as long as it stays like this, I'd say don't worry about it.
