Algae Control in a new 10g

With a 10 gallon tank the answer is easy! Frequent water changes (once a week..vacuuming gravel) should keep it under control. I wouldn't rely on other organisms to eat algae unless you really want them.

i don't get any algae except a teeny amount of diatom in my 10 gal, and i do weekly 50% water changes, just don't keep it in a window and avoid high power light unless you're doing planted tank

Exactly! Pretty much describes my 10 gallon.

Hmmm... Seems wierd. I've had mine running for about 3 weeks now and I am getting the beginnings of algae forming on my glass, plants and driftwood. The glass isnt an issue, as I just can go at it with a scrubber. And I have avoided doing too many water changes as I'm just getting done with my cycle. I've mostly just replaced evaperated water and kept a close eye on ammonia and nitrite/nitrates... I'll start with more regular water changes now that my tank is more established and see if that keeps everything in check.

Thanks again for the info!
