In nearly all cases, those sorts of chems aren't needed.

Algae can be controlled (easily or not, depending on the setup), through different, and potentially less harmful ways. Something as simple as reducing the amount of light, to reducing the amounts of feedings, or even increasing the amount of regular cleanings you do can seriously reduce algae levels in a tank.

If you are having algae problems, why don't you give us more info on your part? How large is your tank? How kind of fish are you keeping? What is your maintanence routine? How often do you feed? What kind of light exposure does your tank have? Do you have plants? etc. etc.

Quite a few experienced fish keepers like to keep their tanks as far away from chemicals as they can... the only chem that touches my tank is dechlorinator and a few various fertillizers for my plant tank. None of my tanks have experienced any kind of algae outbreak.

Disregard some of that... I just read your other post about the green algae.
What kind of light exposure does your tank have? Do you feed that snail anything?

Thanks for your help, the snail is given an algae tablet (nutrafin) evry 4-5 days, he eats it right away, the light cycle is 10 hours with a aqua glo or life glo (not sure) 14 " no tube.

Last month i had a problem, all my fish died, to my surprise i had nitrite in my water, so i took apart my AC mini and let only the sponge in it, since then the water parameter is perfect, i do 10 % water change weekly with conditioned tap water or ro/di water, depending if i have enough for the salt tank and the fresh water one. So i hope it is not a bacteria, i hope it is only algae.

Thanks again !!!

If you have no plants in your tank, shut off those lights... I would also cut back on those algae wafers. Snails don't need much to survive on... I had MT Snails survive in a tank with nothing but some water and a few decorations for months w/o me adding any kind of food (this was after my betta died after 3 years). Your bioload is very light... so your water changes should be ok.

Keep in mind though, if you plan on adding fish, your tank is far from being completely cycled... an apple snail adds very very little bio load to your tank.

Thanks,

The tank has been going for 2 years now, i had one angel, one white tetra and a pleco.

The 2 fish died, then the pleco, probaly because of a nitrite spike, so the cycle has been going for years, i will try to add one or two little fish this weekend, lets hope they make it. The 3 others were about 1 and a half year old.
