Typically fish that are labeled golden algae eaters are chinese algae eaters, so if that's the case then yes they act the same.
Chinese Algae Eater = Trouble I had one and I hated that fish. It dug up my plants, chased my other fish and was just trouble. It died unexpectedly (thank goodness) when I had it about a yr. and it was about 5 inches. I bought it when it was about an inch
