Algae eater suggestions for a semi aggressive community tank ?

^ my mbunas destroyed anything I tried to feed to my plecos. I hand to hand feed them in their pvc caves after a while. Lame. Could just grab up an algae brush and call it good. My mbunas went for my arm a few times during tank cleaning when they got to be 4+". Not saying they were like my boulengeri that tried to eat me any chance they got though. Mean little Tangs those things.

nothing that hasn't already been said.... I have a 6-7 inch bristle nose in with cichlids and barbs... she goes great!

Thanks for the reply. That's good to hear. Haven't made up my mind completely yet, even in regards to some of the other stocking ideas. The tank is still working through it's start up pains. I think I have another couple of weeks before it's ready for it's first fish, so I've got some time to mull things over.

get a chinese algae eater( like 2.99) they mind theyre own business but when other fish get too close they get pretty territorial, they max out at most 3 inches or so

They don't eat much algae especially when they get bigger. They just get aggressive and mean.

I would suggest not getting the fish to clean your glass and just clean it manually. I see problems with your stocking attacking most fish you put in there. Also, once your algae eater cleans your glass you will need to supplement its food with pellets/wafers/etc and then you may have a hard time getting it to eat algae.

I'm of this opinions as well.

After having a few BN plecos and otos I would never suggest keeping them for the sole sake of removing algae. They wont touch anything hard, slimy, stringy, or fuzzy IME. Basically only good for softer green algaes and diatoms.
