What should i use as an algae eater in a planted tank besides an oto. Bristle noses seem okish but if they dont get enough they eat the plants. Im not sure about SAE, CAE is a big no for obvious reason, im not sure about shrimp. What should i use?

I highly recommend SAEs. They are fantastic algae eaters, very peaceful, great in a varied amount of community settings, never stop eating all kinds of algae and are darn cute. :)

I have only seen bristlenose plecos eat plants on one occassion and I thought that was weird. Usually they leave the plants alone. I would still recommend a bristlenose since they are the best tank cleaners when it comes to algae. Just make sure to suppliment his diet with fresh veggies and algae wafers as well as a good size piece of driftwood which he needs in his diert and he should leave the plants alone.

yeah no matter what algae eater there will be some driftwood in the tank.

I found a couple little SAEs for like $1.49 a few weeks ago and wow I am amazed at how much algae they have cleaned up in my tank. There were a few Otos already in there but these SAEs are amazing, I am now a believer!

ok i'll go with SAE's, how many should go in a 75 gallon tank?
