Algae Eaters & Cichlids

The algae growth is probably due to overstocking. Even as babies, that many fish produce alot of waste. Either move your Africans to another tank (the best option because of the difference in water parameters) or do med-large water changes every week.

Also, don't forget to grab a Magnet-Scrubber. Those things have saved me an unbeleivable amount of time, just don't let your fingers get cought on them before you put 'em in the tank.

As for plecos creating more algae, I disagree. I've always kept at least one pleco in my oscar-only tanks, and they make a world of difference. This is, at least, with oscars only, a VERY MESSY fish itself.
