If a fish eats another live, healthy fish, it should be fine provided that the eaten fish has no defense mechanisms (such as a barbed dorsal fin, spines, etc...) that could injure/kill the consumer.

no my fish are healthy and eating now after i spent forty bucks on fish food to find out what they eat. but my fish are laying again and they are aggresive and were attacking the algae eaters i was wondering if the algae eaters might have some kind of poison that could make the fish sick

so your saying its fine ok thats it

do pictus catfish eat algae tablets couse mine only eat flakes and i was wonder if thats normal :(

dude i dont know i was the one who made this thread to ask a question cause i dont know very much the last person to ask would be me look it up on the net

razor, start your own thread

Starter, how big are the convicts, and what are the algae eaters? Plecos, otos, snails?

2 females are 2inches 1 male 31/2 inches i remember when i bought the algae eaters the first six letters plecos it was some big scientific name i could look it up. they look like catfish .two cichlids are spawning

if you know that your cichlids are attacking the algae eaters don't you think it's a little bit cruel to leave them in there? take them back and wait until you get your bigger tank. i'm sure the LFS can hold them for you for a small fee.
