I have a placo and it seems very shy. Basicly the only time i seem to see it is in the dark. I also have a shrimp in the tank and i have seen him munch on an algae wafer however I have yet to see the placo eat. I was told to put one algae wafer in once a week, is that suffiecient? Anything else I should be doing?

Worried,

I have also heard placo's are responsible for a great deal of waste, is this true?

no it's not enough for him.most plecos do not eat enough algea in your tank.try feeding him zucchini and cucumber slices very other day(i give mine vegetables every night) and throw in a algea disk at night.there are many other posts on how to feed plecos, just look in the bottomfeeder section
