Algae on plants

No. I used to do them weekly. I dose excel everyday, so I still do water changes once a month. However, when the bottle of excel runs out, I'll start doing water changes only 2 or 3 times a year. I was really using the excel to combat algae, but I'll continue to use it until it's empty.

Something else of note that nobody has mentioned here: In my experience, the leaves most affected by the algae are going to be damaged beyond the plant's ability to repair them. The algae is actually rooted in the leaf as opposed to being pasted on it. The only way to get rid of it is to trim the plants back and let them grow fresh, clean leaves. Closer inspection of the worst leaves should tell you if this is the case or not.
