Algae Problem!!

well no word back. i was thinking that tank is tiny and plants wise should be treated so to give it the illusion that it's bigger.

i was picturing a few things in my head (uh... ooohhhhh) and was thinking you need a little more depth in your tank imo. i think subwas, pelia, mini pelia and baby tears would look amazing in that tank and provide the illusion of depth and make it look larger.

keep in mind i haven't worked with pelia or subwas and other than baby tears these guys are not the easiest to find. i do have mini pelia doing great with less light than you have and no co2 and baby tears... well, most people can't get rid of them completely so that shouldn't be an issue.

the shrimp should benefit from the cover of the baby tears. they should also be able to find refuge in the subwas and pelia. they would pick the mini pelia clean and keep that in check most likely also.

i think that would give a great mossy, bushy, deeper feel to your tank and could look stunning... and large!

if you are going to change out your plants i would keep a lookout for these guys. keep in mind mini pelia is going to cost you greatly and you won't get much. time and patience will provide a beautiful bush or ground cover though. splitting it up in dime size tufts and giving it room to grow from time to time should help it cover better faster.

got the new moss a while ago, now the moss is dying with more algae on it...i need new moss again and floating plants, gonna try that this time, still have an air stone in there, ammonia is fine

get ferts... full line... check your gh... is it too low?

for example i just upgraded my lighting on my 50. 3 days later i had staghorn, bba and a couple other algaes. i cleaned my hoses to my filters since it was about time and dumped more ferts in there and 3 days later, no more algae.

maybe k2so4

if your gh is low nab some gh booster also.

for such a tiny tank make stock solutions and add a capful or so whenever you see an issue.

definitely do the floater though... java moss can get nasty pretty easy.
