Algae Problems

Help

I've got a ton of filament algae growing on my sand. I've pulled a bunch and changed lights to a 10K. It has slowed the growth, but not stopped it. And now, a patch of green and red algae (not filament, more like just a color) is growing in patches on the sand.

I'll try and take pictures, but I've got no idea why this is growing and why none of my algae cleaners is doing anyting agout it.

This will depend mostly on how long your tank has been setup. Is the growth all over the sand or just in some spots?

I setup the tank in early May 2006. So, it is relatively new.

Any thoughts.
