I've had many problems with the brown algae that's been growing in my tank. The fish appear fine, no nitrate spikes, still on the lowest color on the card.

It's starting to get too much. It's dying my live rock brown. It's mostly at the glass near the bottom and in the sand. Also on the heater and powerhead.

Is this normal for a tank that's been going ~4 weeks? My snail and 2 hermits clean a little bit of it, but not enough.

IF its only been 4 weeks, then i would suggest its just diatom algae. This is normal for any new tank and will go away in time...yes, it does look ugly, but the cleanup crew should deal with it...how much of a clean up crew do you in the tank?? and how big is the tank? I have a feeling you need to add more snails...
