Algae won't grow for me...

I wonder if you could purchase the green wrap stuff used for sushi and put into a tank to seed? I don't know if that is technically algae or not. I'm not sure how it is processed and if it would still be viable to reproduce either.

Reading this link just got me thinking is all. A fresh market may have some different kinds to try out.

have you tried dosing with excel and fluorish? or throw in some flake food?
I've tried the flake food..gave me cyanobacteria (but I didn't use an airstone so maybe I'll try again). I have Flourish..do I follow their dosage?

miracle grow
you can take some algae that you already have and rub some of it on the rocks thatll seed it
Problem is, I don't have any algae to start with (snail ate everything)..hence the need to grow some more.

Are you talking about those nori sheets? Isn't that seaweed?

How does one grow algae? Do I need more light...?

If you have none, Yes!

If you have some... More!

With the Nitrate laden water you've already put in, and alot of light. You'll see algae, soon!
And adding the Flouish will help. And sure, just start out dosing per instructions.

Just how much light do you have? On what size of tank?

Got plants?
