you could try pinching the tube/hose so there is less flow (and suction ofc) it should last longer like that

I've only had diatoms in new tanks, and they go away on their own - as suggested, they seem to be a symptom of a tank that has not stabilised yet. May not be worth disrupting the tank to deal with them.

Sooooo now the brown algae is green on the sand and its making my plants leaves black...
is green better than brown? when will this go away?? its getting really annoying having to do water changes more than once a week
