i just added 7 plants about 2 weeks ago. they started dying so i got a better light and now i have a reddish brown algae. i have been leaving the light off more and i bought a pleco to maybe try and help fix the problem. any other suggestions?

its a 20L
The lights normally on from 7am - 11 pm
and im not sure on the phosphates (dont have a po4 test)

the tanks in a corner so the only light comes from my bulb its a flourescent (i think its a 15 watt)
You dont have enought lighting for even low light plants. You need at the least a 40w lighthing fixture.

Its been cycled for 2 weeks..thats one of the reasons. This is common in new tanks.
Also having so little ligthing and plants will not help. Try getting a new ligthing fixture thats at least 40w.
