Algea Eater on crack!

My algea eater just got moved from a ten gallon tank to a 46 gallon tank. He was always pretty active in the 10g. He was never like other algae eaters I've seen that just stick to the glass and stay there all day. Now that "Al" has a lot more room, he has been going nuts for the past couple of days. I have a powerhead for a 50g tank and he'll just throw himself at the current and ride it and get back on like it's a rollercoaster. He seems to be having a good time, and only rests for a short while. I've been watching his breathing. He'll be breathing fast, and once he calms down and his breathing slows he'll just start swimming all over the place again, particularly in front of the powerhead. He's been like this for two days now. Is he just having fun, or should I be concerned? Sometimes he'll go scavenging through the gravel, eating whatever he could find. I guess he gets really hungry after all that action.

Also, anybody have any opinions on my tank? It's 46g and I'm using three filters, one Marineland 50g Bio-Wheel, one Aqua-Clear 50g, and a Top Fin Undergravel Filter, which is worked through the powerhead and not air stones. Does anybody know if this is too much current? I know Al seems to love it, and after some research into Algae Eaters, I have found that they love currents. But what about other fish? I know I can set the aqua clear filter on low, and I've been considering doing that in order to avoid so much current. The powerhead as well is set to as low as possible, which doesn't really seem to be very low. I believe it's a Penguin 50g.

Anyway, any opinions would be welcomed. Especially on Al.

Thanks!

As long as your water is good and he can get out of the way of the current when he wants, I would say all is fine! He might just be showing you his appreciation

i have to say that this thread is exactly the same title i wanted to post. my bulldog pleco should not be named "bulldog". it should be named "rabid chihuahua pleco on methamphetamines" because that it how it acts.

Did you drop a small "baggie" in the tank? My gold nugget got more active after a tank swap also. But not as bad as you described.

When I got my first Cories, they swam around up and down like they were psychotic... They calmed down after a few days. I also have a clown loach that will get bored and swim into the bubbles of my airation and ride them up to the top, then back and around to do it again. Think these fish might like theme parks??? They always calm down and have no problems with them, so I do not worry.
