I just brought some waffers today for my 1st time. I was hoping to see my Brisklenose plecos eat then. However my tiger barbs are eating them and will not allow the plecos near them at all. Is there any suguestions on how to get the plecos to eat them and not the barbs?

put the algae wafers in the tank 30-60 min after the lights go out.

I was really looking forward to watching them eat. I have a Medusa Pleco he is always hiding and i was hoping he would of came out for a bite.

Move the barbs to a different tank.

BN will come out and feed in the light as long as they are not feeling threatened/harassed. Tiger barbs are nasty fish.

I have bn that come out at feeding time and head right to the spots they know I will dropping their food.

u could always fed the tiger barbs their food first then by the time u fed the pleco the tigers should of had their fill of food or move the barbs to another tank but if this is not poss u need to make sure ur pleco is eating or drop a few wafers in diff parts of the tank an not all fighting over the same wafer

i have shy plecos too. drop in just after lights out. sit and wait. you can keep the room light on. after a few minutes your eyes will adjust enough to see what your fish are doing.

i feed mine in a usual spot as well, so they know where to congregate. you can always tell its feeding time, because my cories park themselves out front and my plecos have their faces peeking out of their nooks and crannies. its really cute!

Yes, drop in waffers after lights out. If you want to see, get a red light.

Ancistrus L034 (Medusa) come from the Rio Xingu and they typically prefer
a "meatier" diet in comparison to other Ancistrus species. They are also
very shy and secretive. I view my plecos (fed after dark) with a flashlight
which is the only time I see some of the more elusive species.

Try some earthworm pellets. My BN's go crazy over them and I'm actually having trouble getting them to eat algae wafers now.
