alien eggs?

I was thinking that the filter has a tumor!

Better do a biopsy to make sure it's not cancer!

hey you guys are pretty funny. My dad's going through throat cancer right now. F$#@ING JERK!

relax PP. I don't think Tetra intended to make his post a personal one. Sorry to hear your father is dealing with cancer and sincerely hope for the best but how was Tetra to know that? He simply posted something in light, not a personal attack.

I'm simply asking a question, not making plastic eggs. If nobody knows what it is, don't reply.

what is the texture like, PP? Is there any moisture to it? If not, I would say it was from your CO2 DIY overflow or leak as you suspect... is there anything in the "egg looking shapes"? They look empty. That being the case, I think you can realize that they are not eggs after all.

feels almost like styrofoam

it almost looks like maybe there are gas bubbles forming there, and that something in the water is making like a coat for the bubbles.... just a theory though based on your pics. otherwise the insides look almost like a honeycomb or somethin.. maybe it's spider eggs? not sure though. Good luck figuring it out!
:)

EDIT:: after taking another look at the pics, there is that little bit on the hose on the right, and maybe it's spitting goop through a pin hole or something onto the side of the filter and it's building up.... and then maybe some is collecting around the pin hole?

They look just like mystery/apple snail eggs. We two of them in our 56gal, and they laid eggs just like that out of the water at the top of the tank. They hatched about a week or two later, and low and behold a bunch of baby snails all over the glass in the tank.

Most likely you'll see more, check all around the edges of the top of the tank and on top of the lid. If you want to keep them, I would only keep one batch of the eggs, or you might get over-run with them. I think we had about three batches of them in a month's time.

this piece is about 2" long, btw

Apple snail eggs are pink/salmon colored and then "frost" over.
