All i can say is CRAZY CAT LADY

lmao! I'd have to beat the stuffed horse for obvious reasons.;)
Imagine having your cow stuffed and fooling people into trying to milk it. lol

like what p.t. barnum (created the famous circus) said, theres a sucker born every minute.

It's not as freaky as this, however.

And when the friend comes over w/child...you know the first thing they are going for....Awwww mom look at the cute kitty, can I play w/ it!!!
Although really it's not that much different then the hunter who has his deer head or bear stuffed? Just a little more "odd"..what next we stuff Grandma and put her in her fav. rocking chair, with recorder you can push and hear her recite her favorite story she used to tell!

Imagine if we did that with our fish...lol. Have a whole tank dedicated to the memory of our beloved fish. Instead of water, have it filled with some kind of thick, transparent gel substance to suspend the fish in perpetual animation. It certainly would be easy to maintain. lol

LOL thats great:lol2:

omg.. that website is horriable!

eh stuffing a horse would take alot of money considering people still shoot horses today because it's cheaper then euthenization! Imagine stuffing a dead horse with a hole between it's ears.. I think not!

the whole stuffing dead animal thing, I have never been fond of!

I disagree.:duh: I don't personally KNOW the animals that are taxidermist's mounts (like deer). And the only part of the deer mount that is actually real is the hide and antler. Not much more than a scrap of rough-tanned hair-on leather, really. This other thing...the whole bloody thing is freeze-dried. Guts and all. Only the eyes are replaced, from the looks of it. That is just ....oh-so-creepy. One step away from the nuthouse. :hypnotized:

Okay deer mounts when made right look great exspecially if it is a great animal. So are duck mounts. but they actually use the hide not used for the mount and sell it to leather companies as material for piano parts. And they don't freeze dry them they actual clean it like a dear and because cats normally have long hair the insicion would'nt be hard to hide.

jt, if you go to that perpetualpet website they do freeze-dry the animals.

Ewww... What idiots would get something like THAT?! And that one of the rabbit... It looks soooo contorted...

Btw, this is what that women said about the tombstone:

You know a lot of taxidermists actually get this request a lot---people coming in and asking to have their dead pet mounted. I have known of taxidermists who post signs "WE DO NOT MOUNT PETS".

Their reason? You just can't capture the facial expression and body language of a known and beloved pet to the satisfaction of the owner. The family knows how the cat/dog/whatever held its head and what expressions were normal for that pet. A taxidermist would be hard pressed to capture and reproduce that. So once the folks come back to get "Fluffy", they are horrified. It doesn't look like Fluffy to them.

Just guessing, but I expect that most mounts would look bizarre to us if we had actually KNOWN that deer. But to us, it is mostly a generic deer (aside from the antlers or whatever that made you want to get it mounted to start with.)

Now that I am thinking about it, has anyone ever seen a mount of any sort of canine, feline, or equine that looked natural? I sure haven't.
