All-in-one nano systems?

I'm thinking about a 12 g Aquapod or a 14 g Biocube. Are they really all inclusive or do they require a lot of modifications or additional equipment? Would a 20% weekly water change once a week be sufficient with the stock system? It would be either a fish only or FOWLR tank.
This is for my husband (he wants Nemo), but since I'm the one who'll have to do the research and maintenance, I want to keep it simple.
 
Ive had a 12g aquapod for a little over a month now. The only thing you must do is add a heater. A lot of people also upgrade their pumps just to guard against a failure. For questions like this http://www.nano-reef.com/ is a good place to look. The website is full of people doing only nanos. A nano can be a lot of fun. They fit almost anywhere. If you get a hardy fish like a damsel, then the upkeep is very minimal.
 
In a nano you could keep one nemo and a cleanup crew. I didn't read your post too closely the first time so I didn't answer all your questions. Sorry.

I would do the FOWLR tank. It looks really nice. Buy about 12-15 lbs of live rock. Since you don't have much room, be picky about the selection of the live rock. I did about 15% every two weeks for my damsels. They did just fine. The clownfish will be slightly more picky. 10% every week should do. The heater fits in one of the extra compartments in the back of the tank. You don't even see it at all. If you go to http://www.petsmart.com and find the 50W marineland heater, print that page and take it to petsmart to get your heater. The heater works very well in this tank. Doing the petsmart.com thing will save you a few bucks too.

Thanks so much for the info. I'm starting to get kind of excited about this. My husband is a bad influence (and then he complains because I spend too much time with the fish).

The aquapod 24 is about the same price as the biocube 14. Since my husband is buying, maybe I should go with the bigger tank.:rolleyes: Would I be able to have two more fish with the clown if I went that way or would that make me overstocked?

I'm laughing at myself right now. Two months ago when he brought home the 60 gallon and said he wanted Nemo, I told him "We are NOT doing saltwater! It's too much work." I guess I've changed my mind.
 
In the 24g you could keep a few other fish with the nemo. If it were me, I would get two nemos (the ones that grow to only 3.5") and maybe 1 or 2 other neat small fish...plus a cleanup crew. Keep us updated.
 
i'm doing the 12g right now for the nemo in the AquaPod 7050. this is what i spent the first weekend:

it needs updated too! probably another $100 so far too. timers for the lights, more salt, fish net, etc etc... extra heater is kinda large but i use it to mix salt walter in a kinda big container. don't really need so much around but i'm new at this... :)
