All Invert Tank

if you're going all invert, you could try this:
10 ghost shrimp
6-7 amano shrimp
12-14 cherry shrimp
1 dwarf crayfish
1 brig apple snail
1 columibian ramshorn
1 bamboo/wood shrimp

this may seem like a bit much, but inverts produce far less bioload then fish, and if it's planted you should be fine.
I like that suggestion...what about chucking 4 ADFs in there too?

What other inverts would be good besides ghost shrimp, and how many of them could I get.
read my first post. there are at least 13 shrimp species and 8 snail species in the pet trade that could live in there.

Your original idea of getting ghost shrimp and an apple snail would be fine. I'm sure they'd be happy in there.

I'd stick with that plan, and if you like how it turns out you can think about some other inverts (dwarf crays, the tons of other cool shrimp, etc) that might not be available locally.

I have a tank dedicated to apple snails, and another tank that houses my shrimp (although they live with fish, so that tank isn't invert-only). I find both to be an absolute joy (in fact, I like inverts way better than some fish).
