I set this tank up on New Year's Eve 2004. Here it is today :)

LMao Reverix: :bday: I had my blood sweat and tears, algae issues, co2 problems and all the hassles. Its finally stable. I had considered taking it down and doing saltwater but as the months went by it got better. I think it was the threat...:)
It all stems mostly with some vals and crypts. Easy to keep so I don't have the heart to take it down lol. But ther were times....

Captain Hook its a 66g Hagen (20 year old tank)

That looks really good. Nice work!

One day! I'll have a green thumb like you!

Thank you. Most of it was just time and patience. Trying things until you find what works for our tank. No point forcing things that just won't work. Its better to go with the things that do. I had no luck with alternathera. I had lots of luck with tiger lilly but my pleco sucked it until the leaves were thin and ugly.
I found stem plants grow fast enough that he can't ruin them. Broad leaf plants fall victim to his rasping teeth lol :) I lost a beautiful Ozelot sword to his teeth. But I love my royal plec too much to give him up.
