I want to add more filtration to my 55G and was wondering if a pond filter rated for a small pond would be suitable? Has anybody ever tried this before? I realise my tank is probably too small for it, but just a cheaper avenue I'm trying to exploit!
The smallest I can get is 750 lph (190 gph). Is there such a thing as too much? I'm OK with making stuff to accessorise, and I'm always up for getting more plants, though I have plenty to be getting on with. Maybe if I get more filtration I will stop being so paranoid about illness and parasites!
No, not unless the filter makes a whirlpool effect that is detrimental to fish intolerant of powerful currents but this can be addressed by diverting the flow to hoses and then filtration boxes and spraybars. Is there such a thing as too much?
You might be able to adjust the flow of the filter. I know on mine you can.
Mine only goes up to 60 gph, so I need all that I can get :]
Are you planning on making a filter for it?
Or are you just using it to get some flow in the tank?
