Alternatives to Kuhli Loaches

It probably varies place to place- but do most places charge a premium for special orders?

Regarding Danios scaring Shrimp- do you think this will be overcome by lots of plants? I have read a number of articles claiming Danios are one of the compatible fish to keep with RCS. I've no doubt you're right about them eating the young though... My shrimp population will no doubt grow very slowly if at all- again I suspect plants will help.

With planted zones and open zones- I'd expect the Danios to stay in the open and leave the shrimp in the denser areas... obviously I have very little to base this on having not kept them together and never having had shrimp previously.

My LFS does not charge me anything. It never hurts to at least ask.
I'd advise lots of plants and little places shrimp can hide, maybe a few pcs of decor...I have a bridge in my tank that the berried F and babies like to hude under until they are big enough to really venture out on their own. That little bridge is the best investment I ever made. :thm:

My danios were all over the tank when they were the only ones in there, on the bottom and in the plants a lot. Since I've had cories they tend to stay more toward the middle now, which might give your shrimp a chance to hide. :)

 Your tank sounds an awful lot like mine. :D Danios and cories now, then depending on the baby cory situation, some kuhlis next.

I would ask about the pygmy cories. One of my LFS had them last time I went and I hadn't seen them before, so if they just don't get them in all the time maybe they could hold some for you when they do.

I once kept danios with my RCS, but the danios terrified the shrimp. I didn't see many of my shrimp then. My shrimp were happy in a tank with harlequin rasboras, though.

Well I wouldn't really have the option of relocating the Danios... I do intend on an extensive cave system- and I already have a lot of plants... hmmm so... I wonder if I should give up on the idea of the Danios then... I want active fish- but not terrified shrimp.
