Aluminium in tank?

We are wanting to put a divider in our communal tank, so that our Angels can breed successfully. They have had eggs on about 5 separate occassions, and usually the eggs die within a day or so ... but the last lot actually hatched, although the babies only survived for a day or two.

We were thinking of making a divider from an aluminium frame with netting in the middle (so that water in the tank can still filter through, but the other fish can't get near the babies). But we need to know if aluminium is safe for use in an aquarium? Or would it be toxic to our fish?

You can purchase plastic aquarium dividers at most large pet/aquarium stores. They're adjustable, safe for fish, have holes to allow water flow and won't scratch the glass. I'd go with that rather than aluminum.

Or get a piece of acylic and drill a bunch of holes in it for yourself (the net would have to be really fine so the fry don't get hung up.

Thanks for the quick replies. I might have to try the acrylic idea, coz I can't seem to find anybody who sells the dividers in Australia

people also make the frames out of pvc piping since you can drill them you can attach the suction cups right onto the pipes
