i don't know i like just the natural stuff but they say on the sight it can go in water just leave it in a glass of water for a few weeks or set up a 10gal for a Betta or some thing...sucka
Aluminum Oxide in aquariums

I am the top dog on my ship in the USCG when it comes to keeping the ship loking good, and the grit used on our sand paper and sand blasting grit is aluminum oxide. One BIG BIG BIG thing to remember is that rust on steel is oxidation, and although aluminum cant rust, but it does oxidize in its own aluminum way. I dont recommend ANY type of metal or metal by-product in an aquiarium with the exception of brass, as any other metal WILL continue to break down over time. NO NO BAD DOG!!
thats what aluminum oxide is... oxidized aluminum. lol.
oh, and what about titanium for the heaters?
i would onlydo one color for the control test, cuz if any of the colors produced unsatisfactory results, i would write off the whole deal.
This brown aluminium oxide is a grinding powder probably called aloxite in the trade.
It is used for grinding glass and other hard materials to size.
It comes in many different grit sizes all in my opinion way to fine for aquariums.
It also mixes well with water and some types are also suspension treated. This means that it is designed to mix evenly not sink and clump together.
Fish will stir it up with ease and you'll end up with a very murky aquarium and it will probably irritate the fish grain size is so small (most less than a couple thousandths of an inch).
It will also over time put a lot of fine scratches on your tank as it grinds the glass away! (like frosted glass)
I would avoid it at all costs. To many problems
