I have a 55 gallon setup thankfully in my basement along with several other larger tanks.

This tank has been setup for a while. Yesterday morning I awoke to a odd sound and always check the tanks first and i stepped in a huge puddle of water. As i was looking there was a steady stream pouring out the side of the tank. I immediately took some towels to stop it a little and ran for my trusty duct tape hanging next to my tanks. I dried it off and was able to duct tape it up until tonight when i get my new tank setup to replace it.

After looking for some reason the tank just seperated at the seam. I guess it was just its time. I am very lucky it just didnt pop, and i lose everything.

are ya gonna reseal it and keep it as a 'spare'?

Duct tape is a good thing to have for a fish keeper. Other things might be;

extra air pump
extra heater
first aid kit meds
standard tools
emergency filter
clean bucket
flashlight
silicone
and more things.

Very true, I have enough stock to setup a few more tanks under dire emergencies. Luckily i am able to keep this one half stocked until i get a new one in its place.

And yes i will rip out the silicon and replace it, and atleast use it for a plant grower in the garage

How true!!! I keep a roll or more in the house, in my pickup, at the barn, in my saddlebag, at school. . . . whereever am I, there is duct tape.

Duct Tape, the handyman's Friend! After all, if the Wimmen don't find ya handsome, they should find ya handy!

I keep a roll of duct tape, some baling wire and a can of WD-40 in my Land Rover at all times; gotten me home a few times!

question... would duct tape used INside the tank be a problem? i know someone who has duct tape to hold down roots in their gravel. what would something like that do to the chemistry of the water?
