hi
no you are not ovestocked at all the fact that you have plants helps alot with assimilating the waste and oxygen saturation also you could get more fish but only gradually since you ammonia will boost so each time you get new sushi put abut 5 capfuls of cycle in your tank see ya

What's wrong with SAE's?? I heard nor read anything bad about them. On another note... could I get away with adding 2-3 corycats to this tank?

Hello, fellow Torontonian!
You're not overstocked, but your little angels will soon become very big angels, at which point you might run into trouble. If you have something planned for the angels later (say, their own tank and plans for baby angels?), g'wan and add those corys, as long as all the other fish aren't full grown you can get away with it.
Ditto on the SAEs, they can get nasty as they get older - they're territorial and grow large enough that two in a 29g will probably get grumpy with eachother, if not the other fish.
As for a store in Miss/Toronto other than BA's, I haven't had any luck finding a store _anywhere_ in TO with healthy fish and decent staff. BA's in Scarb is where I get my stock but you still have to be careful - they seem to have been having a lot of illness lately, and can't keep a gourami alive, period. How's the BA's in Miss? I was thinking of making a trek out there to see if they were any better than the East end location. Sounds like you and I are having the same problem!

I think you guys are confusing SAEs with CAEs. I will never buy another CAE. I never see SAEs around here though... quite elusive fish.

I agree. SAE are shoaling fish which, I hear, are quite peaceful and are used for black hair algae control. On the other hand, CAE are the antisocial, homocidal ones ;).

Cronos,
You are on the verge of being overstocked, when the angels get larger and the SAE get larger I am afraid you will be. If you get anymore fish, I would get more otos as they like each others company.

i have a few fish stores that i go to in the west end.
grooms pet shop on bloor street in bloor west village is really good, although they don't have anything other then the usual guppy, gouramis and platy combo.
a fish store that has amazing variety but quality is poor is aquatropics on dundas by keele street.
if you go on a day when they first get their stock then you are in luck. other then that the water/tank qualities are horrible.
there is another little store on dundas by lansdown called pet corner which has some good fish.
not much variety but good fish and some really cool plants.
there is also one downtown called downtown pets and aquarium, by dundas and spadina, right on the corner. they have some nice fish, clean tanks and some nice plants! but they are expensive.
another one that i like is, marta's pet and aquaria up by church and weston road.
but after saying all this, BA is the only place i will by my fish!
hope that helps.
