Am i overstocking?

Hey guys i was coming up with my final list for what will be in my 40gallon planted tank. here it is think you could look it all over for me and tell me if im overstoking/what you think?
As of now only the albino rainbow shark and Blue Gourami are in the tank the others i would be ordering

List:
1 Albino Rainbow shark

1 Blue Gourami

5 False Julii Corys

5 Elegans Corys

1 Black Veil Angel

1 Marble Veil Angel

1 Gold Veil Angel

3 Otos (Otocinclus Catfish)

1 Candy Stripe Pleco

Ok well thats the list tell me what you think
 
i would pick one kind of cory or the other and just have a total of six instead of ten.

everything else looks okay, though i don't know how angels and gouramis get along, both species seem to have tempers.

how much research have you done on the rainbow shark? it looks like they might nibble on your plants. they like vegetable matter as well as meaty foods.
 
Really so thats to many cories then? i did not realize but then thats why i posted :D

Also idk about the rainbow shark eating the plants, he has been in there awhile and has not been a problem so far so i think he is ok :D

Rainbow Sharks won't eat your plants. Mine nibbles on them but he's just eating the algae. Personally I wouldn't keep a Rainbow Shark in anything less than a 50g. If you did keep him in a 40g I wouldn't put any bottom dwellers in with him or anything with long flowing fins (especially angelfish and gourami's). I'd leave him out.

3 of each species of cory would be good. Often different species of cories will school together (well mine do anyway).
 
I would not put angels and gourmais in the same tank togather especially if it a regular gourmai. You might get away with a dwarf gourmai. They occupy the same space in the tank and there is liable to be territory issues because of this. Also the gourmais can become downright mean and constantly harrass and nip at the angel and thier long fins.

I would cut the Albino Rainbow Shark and the Blue Gourami, and then get everything else on your list.

Rainbow sharks can get rather aggressive as they age, especially with small bottom dwellers such as cories. He would more than likely murder your cories before too long(I learned this the hard way with an albino rainbow shark and some panda cories). You also can't put them with any other torpedo shaped fish, such as loaches. I would find that guy a new home. I agree that you should omit the gourami as well. Other than that, you look fine.

I have a bunch of them part of the reason..my luck...I get three angels and i will get a pair out of it..
if that happens :eek: ;) angels can be very aggressiv when a pair forms ansd they are spawning..but you will have time to ..GET MORE TANKS :dance:

If the gourami wont go well with the angels I will have to lose the angels all together. any other fish you could recommend that would go well with my blue gourami in a 40gallon tank?

As for the rainbow shark he has been pretty happy in his new home I say new because he was my friends b4 and he had the rainbow shark, gourami, an cory in the same 20gallon tank. when he went to college I took over and gave them an upgrade when I saw them all crammed together like that. (used my old 40gallon SW tank)

anyway they have been living together for a long time and I have not had a problem so far thanks for the concern though :D the rainbow only seems to move when the cory accidentally swims into his space :P
 
Not my experience. But several post have been made on here about angels eating ottos and said ottos getting stuck in angel's mouths. Just a word of caution.
