I just found two amano shrimp that escaped out of my tank and died.. Has this happened to anyone before? I would have never thought they were capable of escaping from a tank.

I've had other types of shrimp jump out from being chased by fish.

I know that they can jump a LONG way (so badly that I have to hold my hand over the net if I have to move them to stop them jumping onto the floor) but I have only experienced them climbing out of the water once. I had an ammonia spike about two years ago, and my loaches and shrimp were going out of the water and resting on top of filters/heaters/etc. but stopped when I got everything back under control I have never experienced one climbing out of the tank though.

Have you checked your parameters lately?

check your water parameters... ive had amanos try to escape only to realize my tank had a nitrate spike.

I now have 3 amanos in the tank are happy as can be...

My parameters are :

Ammonia: 0.25
NitrIte: 0
NirtrAte: 0
PH:6.2

The tank has been up and running for months and last week when I checked the parameters everything was normal. The tank had 0,0, and .25 nitrate reading..
Ever since I added the pressurized Co2 and dosing dry ferts something is always going on. I did have an algae issue, but I solved that with the Co2 and I took out one of my bulbs on my light fixture. The light fixture is a dual T5HO fixture with 15 watt 6500k bulbs. The tank looks dark now with only one bulb on..Do you think I could put the other bulb back in without an algae issue and diatom issue now that I'm running Co2 and dosing with dry ferts? Would the dry ferts and Co2 effect the shrimp negatively?

I don't think the frets will affect the shrimp negatively unless they contain copper - check the composition on packaging.

When was the last time you checked parameters before you found them outside the tank?
When had you last done a water change before you found them?
What are the parameters of your tap water?
