Just got home from picking up a few things from Walmart (hate going there but what I picked up was a lot cheaper there over anywhere else). I was amazed how clean their tanks were and how many different kinds of fish they had. They had a variety of cichlids, african butterfly fish, common plecos, tons of different kinds of goldfish, mollys, black skirt tetras, bichirs, and many others. Only a few of the tanks were marked with prices. Meaning you could probably get the fish at a very good price.

If anyone is interested in Arizona the Walmart is at Elliott Rd and the I-10 in Tempe.

I hate to say it. But i buy all my guppy's from Walmart even though i hate going there. They're cheaper than every where else in town and its a huge difference.

They charge $2.49 a female, and $3.49 a male. Everywhere else in town is $5.00 a female and $6.00 a male (Canadian prices)

Hmmm, I didn't know the price difference between NS and out west was affected that much in fish, if at all... Over here, Walmart has guppies at 2.49 or so a male and 1.39 a female (AKA mixed female guppies & male endlers). I'd much rather pay 4.99 for an actual FANCY guppy at my LFS, which charges double what they pay for, because of the shining purples, yellows, greens, blacks, silvers, reds, blues, etc.

But also, my Walmart is HORRIBLE. I gave some very simple information to a customer as an employee watched with an open mouth, and asked me if I would work there :grinyes:

They must have fish people who care, ours is pretty bad, always floaters.......:)

Went to pick up some fish food while grocery shopping at Walmart and happened to glance at the fishies. The tanks were clean and there was a nice selection. Even some exotic shark-type fish, but I'm well stocked, so I kept moving.

every store is different. if they could all get good help, then maybe overall it would be a better place. just like in any business though, good help is hard to find.

My Wal-Mart has a great selection of guppies and their tanks look good but they're actually more expensive than even my LFS and their warranty on fish is only 72 hours. No thanks.

My local walmart has lots of plants for $3.50 regardless of species. I have purchased several anubias and they are very healthy and happy plants. On the other hand they sell several fish that get really really big :( and don't really know or care about what they are selling.
