amazing betta..

Hi all.
I just thought this was pretty neat and wanted to share it.
I have a small plastic container (half plastic/half netting) in my community tank with some 3 day old guppy fry in it. My male Betta, Sam, seems to have adopted them.
He stays either directly under the container or right to the side of it and keeps all the other fish away. He even flares out his fins at me if I put my finger near it!
I guess he really wants to be a dad some day

Oh darn it.. alright I guess he does want to eat them. But I prefer to think that he's fallen in love with them and wants to be a happy fishy family \

I've heard many stories of male Bettas gaurding fry as if it were its own. It is probably his paternal instincts kicking in.

That sounds so cute! I don't think my betta would ever try and adopt something he could fit in his mouth. He's kind of a mean lil' bugger. >_>

my betta stole my molly's babies and took care of them,he carried them to the plants and every time they would leave the plants he would take them back.he still has one baby,the bettas name is dymin,the molly babies name is CJ.
