amazon biotope

yes I do have a planted tank. Right now I have 5 amazon swords and 4 cyrpts (which will be moving to my asian biotope in time).

I would like to keep the corys at least for now, would a group of 4 be ok or should I go out and get 2 more??

taking everyone's advice into consideration, would this work???

2 Bolivian Rams
10 Cardinal tetras(the ones you currently have)
8-10 Lemon Tetras or the Long finned serpae tetras
6 Silver Hatchets (for the top)
1 BN Plecco (for cleanup)

oh and 4 peppered corys (so maybe only 8 of the second tetra species)

or should I stay with my original plan and just add the 6 hatchets??

That has the workings of a beautifull tank!

As I mentioned earlier about the Cories...they should be fine. If the rams do begin spawning behavior, you'll just need to watch them to see if they're going to be agressive or not.

Also, if you order any of the tetras online, please let us know about that experience! I'm always interested in learning about the GOOD fish sellers!

Have A Great Day!

I'm kinda worried about the hatchets jumping out now. I have a glass top but it is not hinged so when i do water changes i have to take the top off. Is there anything else that i may be able to add instead of the hatchets (even if i have to drop a few fish)??? someone on another forum mentioned a festivium, what do you guys think??

Thanks

why not buy a hinge for the glass top, or slide it back on top of the other piece of glass leaving just enough space for the hose to go in. during a water change the water level will be dropping a lot anyways, so there is very little time during the water change the water will be close enough to the top for them to have a decent chance of jumping out.

not if you are going for a natural look, which i assume because you are being biotope specific.

what would be the best substrate for my Amazonian community??

I was thinking Eco-complete, but would Fluroite or something else look better?
