Amazon river salt content

isn't the salt like gator-aid (electrolites) for the fish any thing has got to help living in such a small environment

chaibill - flip back a page and re-read liv2padl and TKOS's replies. As TKOS says, there is already salt in your tap water, and liv2padl covers all the necessary uses for aquarium salt as well as discussing the misuse of salt in aquariums.

Unless I'm treating for ich, I wouldn't, and never have, used aquarium salt in any aquarium. I do use Instant Ocean for my brackish fish...but then again, they're brackish and need it to thrive.

and since you brought up brackish water, perhaps it can be reiterated yet one more time... dwarf puffers are NOT brackish water puffers. :)

Let's give it a third reminder - DPs are not brackish fish

Then, we'll add the other side of the coin - Figure 8 puffers ARE brackish water fish, so get that box of instant ocean and increase their lifespan by 10 years or more.

Wow , that was easy. :joke:
