Any extra light would help, of course, but if you replaced a 60 watt with a fifteen watt compact theres little difference in light levels, as the fifteen is made roughly equal to a sixty watt in lumen output.

No, I'm thinking more along the lines of compact fluorescent flood that is roughly equivalent to 120watt lumens... 23 watt, I think? And the way my tank is situated, positioning and balancing are not an issue... it is set into a windowbox seat... viewable from the front only.
