Ammonia is 0 but Nitrite is high

People are going to tell you nitrite is toxic to fish and that you shouldnt add them until all perameters are perfect. I am having the same problem, ammonia is zero and nitrite is in the caution, (.5)
I have three cories in this mess with four tetras and all are fine except one cory that had a problem with his barbels before I moved him over to this tank.
Good luck. If I could do it over, I would of waited. Keep doing your water changes until everything is zero. I am doing 50 percent WC twice a day and it is getting better fast.

The nitrite should be at 0 (then you'll have to perform huge water change before adding fish). How are you cycling the tank?
 
I would wait on adding anything until your params stabalize. I don't mean to bash the guy talking about the Cories, but IME fresh water is more forgiving than salt water.. I've lost a whole tank before due to being in a rush and not doing things the right way.. Granted there is more than one way, but I personally feel the right way is to not rush anything.
 
I agree with everyone above here ... patience is key in this hobby. Looks like you're on step two of the cycle (first being the ammo spike, followed by the Ite spike followed by a Ate spike). Keep testing and you should see the Ites drop in the next week or so, and then one big water change and you should be good to go!

If your ammonia's 0, then you're already halfway there! Now the colony to breakdown ammonia has expanded and that's why you have high nitrite. Give it few more weeks. I know it's a long wait, but adding fish at this point will spike up that nitrite even higher.
