Ammonia levels are .5 ppm

o sorry yeh I tested the water yesterday and there is 0 ammonia in the tap water. I am still getting a reading of about .25ppm - .5ppm its hard to tell with the colors when you match them up. I'm still doing the 25% water changes everyday.
 
No! It'll raise the pH and make the ammonia more toxic. The guy's an idiot.

Raising pH (if it's below 6) SLOWLY may assist if the issue is inhibited filter bacteria, but suddenly raising pH in a tank with an ammonia issue is insane.



25% water changes will only reduce the level by 25% and it'll soon be up again. You need big water changes.

ok I will try a 50% water change tomorrow and see how that goes.
