im going to do a fishless cycle on a 25 gallon tank.i am going to purchase ammonia from a store.my question is how much should i add each day and after a certain period should i slowly decrease how much ammonia im putting in?also since there is no fish do i need to add a dechlorinator like prime becasue they state to detoxify so would this do anything to the ammonia im using to cycle?

Yes you need to add some de chlor. The chlorine in the water willkill the bacteria you want.

Add ammoina to get a reading of 5ppm. Then keep adding that same amout every day untill you see nitrites. Once you see nitrites cut the ammoina level in 1/2 to about 2-3ppm. Do not more ammoina untill that 2-3ppm level drops. Just add enought ammoina everyday to keep it at 2-3ppm. Keep doing this untill you see nitrates.

where can i purchase ammonia?i live in hamilton ontario.i checked bigalsonline.ca and i didnt see it, only saw ammonia reducing chemicals.

Just be careful to get pure ammonia.

Most places do NOT sell the pure stuff anymore. You may have to ask them to order you some. Most stores nowadays have the scented or detergents or other things added to them on the shelves.

Just check it out on the bottle before buying.

Your local Pharmacy/Drug store would be the first place to check.

i couldnt find any at shoppers nor walmart/canadian tire.is there like a popular brand to look for or at any other stores?
