im buying my amp wiring kit in parts, to get what i want, is there a checklist i can use to make sure i have everything i need?

You don't need much of a checklist:
Power Cable
Ground Cable
Remote Cable
RCA signal cables
Fuse Holder
Connectors - To connect power cable to battery, ground and power to amp, most likely just some simple ring type connectors will do.
Crimping tool - to crimp above connectors onto cables.
Keep your ground cable as short as possible, and make sure you put it on a clean metal contact. Keep your RCA cables as far away from your power wires as possible, if you can run them on opposite sides of the car.
I think that's about all.
