I got my anacharis about a month ago.

Right now, some of the strands look pretty bad, almost like they're desintigrating, actually, they are desintigrating. They turn brown, then transparent. I had them planted, and I noticed that the part of the plant below the substrate quickly rotted(within a week) So, I scratched that idea and bunched them together, laying down horizontally, temporarily.

Now they look even WORSE, except the anacharis that was on top (I think they were stealing all the light)

Now, Im trying to float them to see if that helps, BUT I've done that before, and they get stuck in my filter (the flow from the HOB pushes them down under the water straight to the intake) The big pieces seem to be staying afloat fairly well(some still get stuck), but the smaller pieces get pushed under.

So im stumped.

Any advice?

Mine was doing the same thing until I upgraded my lights from the two 30 watt that came with the tank to two 55 watt 10,000k lights, Now its growing in thick and beautiful. I just started flourish last Saturday but it was starting to come back before i started that, just from the light increase.

Horrible lighting, not even 1 wpg, but Its supposedly a LOW LIGHT plant? aghh. Need new lights. : /

No CO2 but, I use ferts.

30 watts of 'natural sunlight' 46 gallon tank.

I honestly think that when I get back from camp on sunday, I'm just going to throw them out.

Without increasing the light you probably won't get it to thrive for you. I find this plant to need a low/moderate lighting to do well. And planting it in the substrate usually leads to problems as you discovered.

i actually did good with this plant in my 55 a while back and i only had 30 watts like u. try seeing if detritus or ammonia is high
