Hi all!

I bought this new bunch of anacharis yestrday off my pet shop and planted them just yesterday so they can root themselves up into my sand substrate.

I didn’t cut their ends when i first plant them so I did that today and noticed something hard was sitting on my plant. I thought it was kind of a snail or sommat.

This popped up; seem like seed pouch:

Does anyone recognise those? Seeds or not? I mean the mother plant produced those kids by herself? ;)
What do I do with those „kids”? I plant them?

Also, could anyone tell me if my anacharis are healthy and fit and if I cut them ends right?

In fact, I could not plant it as it kept swim up so I wrap with the sponge the plant came with and put it in a ceramic ring with the plant’s ends coming into the sand to encourage the growth of the roots? Will this work?

I managed to propagate my straight vallis as well
(The smallest vallis is the baby plant)

If you like it that way you can do it, but they do not need to be planted at all.

I know. I just like them planted other wise they just lose their roots and die on me lol
What about the seeds Mr T the loach ? I’m curious about those ?

Anacharis is a flowering plant. It does produce seeds, which are carried by the water. However, its main means of reproduction is asexual, by means of runners and fragmentation, both colonizing new areas.
It grows well planted or floating. If planted, one has to frequently cut off the ends and replant them (or give/throw away), otherwise it becomes spindly and ugly.
I am not sure if what you are seeing is a seed or not.
Your Anacharis look very healthy!! Enjoy.

Thank you! :) How often do I need to cut the ends? How far up do I cut the ends?

"Anacharis" is just a collective name for similar looking plants like Egeria, Eldodea and Hydrilla. Yours looks to be Egeria densa, it is if it has the leaves in whorls of 4 or more. The "seed" you see is probably a flower bud, don't expect any seeds as the plants sold are all male and just cut in pieces to reproduce. Just a 1" long piece will grow out again.

Hello all. I had 7 rummy nose tetras disappear overnight. They were all fine last night and I got up this am and there is no trace of them. I checked the filters. The tank has a glass cover so no jumping out. I have a 55 gallon tank.3 angelfish and 5 pictus catfish and one pleco. Only problem with water has been nitrates at about 60ppm..no ammonia or nitrates. I have had these fish for a month.
