Anacharis stripped. Will leaves regrow?

My tiger barbs stripped all the leaves off of my anacharis, I pulled the bare stems out and stuck them in another tank for the time being.

My question is will the leaves regrow or should I just trash them? The stems are still green. The tank they are in now is 10g, with a 15w florescent bulb, there is already some Anacharis in there as well as some Java Fern and what I was told is a water lily(but I'm questioning that).
If they will regrow should I just float them? or stick them in the substrate at all?

Thanks.

I haven't had personal experience with this plant but, I have had plants that I thought there was no hope for them. But, I stuck them in the gravel and low and behold they grew. I would say give it a try, what have you got to lose.

I have anacharis with my AC's-and they love to chew it up...I have noticed that the leaves won't grow back-but it will usually grow a new shoot off of it which will grow new leaves-I then break off the new growth, and throw the chewed section away. IME it doesn't matter if it is just floating or planted in the substrate...

Thanks for the replies, I'll stick with it and see what happens.

I found as long as there is a healthy green chunk left..it grows back

It looks like it's coming back. Thanks guys
