I want to get anacharis for my aquarium, but I'm not sure if I should. I know it's very cheap but then I never had luck with anacharis in the past. They seemed to just disintegrate in the water and turn brown. Well back then I never turned on my light for long periods of time (1.5 WPG). Should 1.5 WPG be good enough and that I put liquid supplement into the water?

i have anacharis, did you plant them when you had them before? im not too sure on the wpg of my tank, but i have lots of anacharis in my tank floating, and it grows alot. the bulb in my tank is the one that came with the hood i bought, its a Perfecto hood for 20gal long. i think anacharis is a great plant, if you float it, it kinda gives a cool look to a tank

I've got anacharis in my 20g at 1.5wpg. It grows fine but does tend to get a bit leggy, with thin stalks, until it hits the top of the tank and drifts along the surface. I give the tank 1ml of Flourish every week after a 50% WC. No CO2.

Very similar to reiverix. I grow it in my 18g with low light and no CO2, I do dose NO3 though, I've found that if I don't I get BGA. A bit leggy, thin stalks compared to those stems in my 33g under high light and CO2, but it grows and looks nice. Provides a nice contrast to the ambulia.

I saw a plant at my LFS and on the tank it is labeled "japanese fern", or japanese something, I'm not sure. Anyways, it looks somewhat like hair grass. What are the light requirements, and how difficult would you say it is to grow?

thanks.

I always had the same problem, my anacharis would turn brown and start to disintegrate. Its the high temperatures. I keep my tank at 80 degees. Anarachis likes colder temps. Eventually it does adapt.

I've had my anacharis for a week already, and it seems to do pretty well, but it isn't growing. I thought anacharises are supposed to grow fast! Mines seem stagant. In your experience, do anacharis grow taller and propogate fast?

I had mine growing best when it was floating. Temp was about 75-78, pH was near neutral. When I put the plants in the substrate, they do not do as well because of the low light. As reiverix mentioned, it gets a bit thin otherwise...at least in my tanks.
