I've never felt these things before. It feels soft, but I'm not sure.

i managed to touch slime, i didn't push on it, was i supposed to? slimy is enough to scare me away..

It looks like that, like the center is brown and everything. I touched the side..behind the tentacle thingies.

lol u need to feel if its just water filled or if it has a hard rock like calcium carbonate skeleton so yea u gota squeez a bit.

Wow that is one pissed off little tentacle thingie now. After poking to make it close, he poked it and he said it felt hard, so i did a test run and it has a slimy outer coating with some hard lump things inside. So I'd go with hard...and that was really hard to do.

ok lol then it is a hard coral and cold just be a light sun or orange cup coral...ull just have to get it good light and see how it goes. if it was all soft it would have been anemone....but since it had a hard center it isnt. the color through me off. there are tons of genuses and species out there its hard to tell the exact untill it gets better color. what is ur lighting btw?

Well there is a brown cup coral we saw. We bought one of these

So hopefully that is good. Poor college students can't afford much more.

had one of those on my old 29 gallon worked well. does it span the entire tank? also the sun corals usually arnt photosynthetic so they will need meaty foods and plankton.
