Anenome/Clownfish Questions

Thanks for all the good info.

I have picked up 2 juvenile maroon clowns that I will be keeping in my quarintine tank for ~3 weeks. I will probably pick up a BTA next weekend. I have a spot picked out in my tank for it that gets plenty of light, has good water movement, and has a crevice to attach to. Hopefully it will like it there, otherwise it still has 2 weeks to find a spot and settle in before I introduce the clowns. If they host in it great, if not, no big loss.

My two Percs chose to host a MagFloat and would never go near the anemone...it is a risk you take with tank raised clowns. They don't need each other, and I can say for a fact my MagFloat doesn't need the bits of food dropped to it by the clowns either. If the clowns don't take to the anemone, it isn't the end of the world, the fish and the anemone are both beautiful.

Your tank is no where near well established enough. You should also do a lot of reasearch on these critters ,"I don't know if the next statement applies to you," They aren't for newbies. I've seen many, many threads about peoples anems dieing over the years . I just wouldn't do it until I had a lot of practice keeping a tank stable and with other inverts.
IMO
keep us posted and good luck

SummerMoon: Please don't get a fake! They look So...FAKE~!

I agree 100% with that. I just wanted one mainly because the first thing most of our guests say after noticing I have clowns is "Kinda weird you have clowns but no anemone." Oh well. If it's not needed, then I suppose I'll just do without. I don't want to risk killing a living creature just for practice. Especially since my tank isn't established enough for one, nor is my knowledge of anemones adequate by any measure. And I definitely don't want to be stuck with a totally hideous fake one. :o
