Anenome Vs. Powerhead

This sucks, my bulb tipped anemone decided to move last night and wandered into the powerhead and got all of its tenacles ripped off.

My question is that if it is still attached to the rock does that mean its still alive? And has anyone ever seen an anenome survive a severe injury?

I dont want to take it out if it is still alive but I dont want to let it start rotting either. Thanks.

I've seen a few anemones survive the powerhead, but most die. If it is attatched to a rock, and seems to be holding on strong, leave it in the tank. If ALL it's tentacles are ripped off, likely it will have to survive completely off of zooxanthellae until it starts to re grow its tentacles, which could take years. I would give it as much lighting as posible to keep the zooxanthellae up.

If you KNOW it's going to die, the best thing you could do, is put it in a container with some of the tank water in it, and stick it in the freezer. It will slowely lower its temperature, killing it off painlessly

It is still alive to this date. It has about 10-12 tenacles left (it was huge before, 6-8" expanded). It is eating so I think it is going to survive. My maroon clown is actually still living in what tenacles are left. Have my fingers crossed, and hope it grows back quickly as it was a beautiful specimen before. I have since piled rock around my powerheads and filter intakes to help prevent this from happening again. Thanks.
