can somebody tell me more about these snails?
really interesting creature and would like to raise some

Well, they eat smaller snails (MTS, rams, etc) but won't bother larger ones. It won't cause a massacre though, a Columbian Ramshorn could probably do more damage. It'll often bury itself in the substrate with it's siphon sticking out. I believe this is to ambush passing snails, though I've never seen them catch anything this way. Will also take other meaty foods.

Has separate sexes, no idea how to tell them apart though.

The valid name for this snail might be Clea helena.

i have heard that if the assassin snail doesnt have any snails to eat they would act like a normal snail and eat algae, leftover foods, etc but wouldnt produce any eggs. Is that true?

Apparently, they are not as prolific as the commonly available snails as well. This has been discussed in Loaches.com after a few members in the UK managed to obtain them with one in Maidenhead Aquatics (of Peterborough) obtaining 200 from her supplier. Her assassin snails are proliferating quickly now.:)

proliferating ? is this even a word?

How fast does a snail have to be to ambush another snail?
Wonder if animal planet would have to film the attack in slo mo!!

HA ha ha!!!

i know of a few people here in the UK who have them, but i cant seem to fiind any anywere.
