I was at a LFS the other day and I saw the cutest little Angel. What caught my eye, though, was that it seemed to be chasing its tail. It was swimming around in circles. I almost bought it, but decided to watch for a while. It did swim straight some, but mostly just in circles and always the same direction. Do you think there was something wrong with it? I didn't get it that day, thinking I would come back in a week and see if it was still alive. It was...but still swimming in circles. It's really cute to watch, but I don't want to get him if there is something wrong. Any ideas?

I would suspect there could be a problem with that fish. angels will fight and swim in circle from time to time but they usually do not exhibit this behavior much.

they should always look like they are on a mission.

I have a lot of angels and most are up to something.

if it spends too much time swimming in circles there is a problem.

it could be a genetic flaw..

cute as it may seem it is not the correct attitudr of an angelfish.(still confuses me why they call them angels as they are anything but angels)

i just googled whirling disease and spinning disease. Too many hits to pick one to link to, but if you are curioius you could do that and find quite a number of interesting items.
