I've been thinking about getting an angel for my 36 gallon- I haven't had one since I was a kid. Right now, I have kuhli loaches, and apisto pair, and some cardinal tetras. The cardinals I've had for maybe 8 months- they're full grown, and a really good size- over 2". Would that be a problem? What about the apistos?

The apisto's should be fine with Angels. tha Cardinals will be fine while the Angel is small. However, they could also become targets.
it is hit and miss as much depends on the temperament of the Angel.
some will live peacefully with them others may not.
you can try it. generally cards are quick enough to get out of the way.

I honestly think they'd be big enough to be somewhat of a deterrant anyway. I never really realized how big full grown cards could be! They're so teeny in stores.
I'm going to see what I can find locally for angels, but I really want a black lace I think. Might hafta go to aquabid for that.
ETA: We do have some good local places, so if I ever needed to trade in the angel I'm positive that wouldn't be an issue.
